Notes: Antelope was dedicated by Trey to "Chris" and "Bob." This show marked the debut of Lawn Boy, which Trey announced as a “world premiere.” Antelope and 'A' Train contained Popeye theme teases. Suzy included a tease of the Brady Bunch theme. SOAM included Dave's Energy Guide teasing. 'A' Train also contained a Dixie tease. Bowie included a Contact tease in the intro and Mr. P.C. tease in the song. Prior to In a Hole, Auld Lang Syne was teased.

This show was part of the "1989 Tour."

DollarBill This is a nice late ’89 show at the Paradise in Boston with pretty good playing overall.

The recording cuts in on Gin and this one doesn’t seem that tight from what is represented here. Divided Sky is ok, Mike sounds off in some spots. Ya Mar gets interesting during the solos as everyone is called out as Leo! Oh Kee Pa into Bag was good and then Trey talks about how good it sounds on stage and how they got there really early to set up and how great the crew is. This becomes ironically funny to me as the next couple of songs have monitor feedback in them. So much for the good sound… Anyways, Foam, Lizards and My Sweet One were all pretty well played. Antelope rocked, as usual, and then we have the debut of Lawn Boy, which was funny and well done. The newly added Frankenstein closes up the first set nicely.

The beginning of Reba was also cut and was just ok to my ears. Trey fell off in the middle, but it’s a hard song and its still new. Possum was good as was my favorite Forbin’s > Mockingbird combo. Mockingbird had some cuts in the recording though. Fishman then comes out for the worst Undone I’ve ever heard. He forgets all the lyrics and gets lots of help from Page and its no wonder that they canned this one after one more performance. Fee was good, though it sounds like Trey is having a little trouble singing it tonight. Melt is really starting to settle in and rock hard on a regular basis. A-Train was nicely done and very dynamic with all four members trading off licks. Suzy, Contact and Bowie were all reasonably well played to close up the back half of a pretty good second set.

After some funny stage banter about the upcoming New Year’s Eve show the band breaks out the new In a Hole song. The key change transition in the middle was rough, but otherwise its pretty well played. I like this song and I don’t know why it didn’t stick around in their repertoire? Golgi is the second encore and was pretty standard tonight.

Overall it’s a pretty good ’89 show to hear with lots of teases, funny stage banter, and the first Lawn Boy.
