We all know that lick Trey plays in the Hershey Disease from 12.1.95. That glorious uplifting flurry of sixteenth notes that sends all of us to that special place. If you've heard it, you know what I'm talking about; if you haven't, then you've got a glorious type-I jam to check out. But what does 12.1.95 have to do with 4.15.94 you ask? Well, I've got a surprise for you: that wasn't the first time Trey played that lick! He whips it out in this version as well. In fact, if you listen to the Diseases from 4.10 and 4.14 leading up to this one on 4.15, you'll hear the same lick pop up. It is very brief in 4.10, slightly longer in 4.14, and finally we have the whole thing in 4.15. To my knowledge, this lick wasn't played during Summer '94 or Fall '94, and I'm not sure about the rest of the Spring tour, but I was surprised when those notes wafted out of my speakers as I listened to this show. Overall, the Hershey '95 Disease is much better, the jam leading up to the lick is cleaner, but it's still fun to hear those all too familiar notes a full year and 8 months earlier.
The rest of this show is average/great for Spring '94. The mid first set Hood actually works quite well and the material surrounding it is all well played. However, the real selling point of this show is the Giant Country Horns portion of the second set. The crowd goes crazy as they walk on in the beginning of Suzy! Every song with the horns is great. It's all very straightforward, but quite tasty. A dash of seasoning to a perfectly cooked steak, if you will.
