Rocking Chalk Dust to open with and you can hear the volume level change as the taper gets settled in. Mike sounds off in spots during an ok Guelah. Poor Heart was good. Stash also had some weak spots, but a great jam. Horse and Silent were both pretty good. Rift still had timing problems as Fish really pushed it again. Another Caravan for some reason and this one sounded a little off to me. Then they play a new song? Page tries his best at some soul singing and the others chime in as well on the first outing of There’s Something Wrong with My Baby. It even sounds like Fish is singing too! Not bad for a first run through live. Sparkle’s tempo gets pushed by Fish; and so does Antelope’s as they rock the first set to a close.
Llama continues the “where’s the fire” attitude to open the second set and Foam doesn’t really slow down either. Trey’s part sounds very confused at times as he teases various themes in his solo. Gin was a bit rusty and also had a fast tempo. Dinner continued that trend and had some rough spots from Mike. Mound was good, and then the Balls come out… YEM had some off parts from Trey, but the jam was good, Mike laid it down with Fish at the end and the vocal jam was pretty cool too. HYHU brings Fish out for a solid Bike and vacuum solo. Hood was also too fast and had some roughness along the way, but not too bad. Cavern was really sloppy all over, blown lyrics by Trey made Page come to the rescue.
Everyone gets shushed for Grace and then GTBT rocked the end of the night nicely.
The lack of tempo control by Fishman really keeps this one from being a greater show. The rest of the band had so much trouble keeping up that they couldn’t perform their parts very well. That’s my opinion of it anyway. I’ll go four stars for the new song, but really this show is in the three-ish range.
