Some feedback troubles plague the first set and the band had a big oops at the end of an otherwise ok Golgi opener. Then...Wow, we have a Tube! I love this song personally, but this one has rust on it. Bouncing had more feedback and was ok. Same for Poor Heart and Trey sounds a little frustrated. Stash was nice and dynamic; Mike was a little off at times, but a good jam anyway. Horse was good except Trey blows the end. Silent is a lot better, much more controlled. Reba was a little weak at the top, but got progressively better. Llama was a little sloppy, but rocking. Then there's a great story about Trey's family before an even bigger bust-out with Satin Doll. And for you Page fans out there, he has a great swagger going on here vocally speaking. Antelope is a nice, rocking closer for a pretty weird set.
Another, though smaller, bust-out with an exceptional Dinner opener. This one is really solid and rocking. Tweezer jammed pretty well. Fee was average. Paul had another oops in a later verse. Ice was good, though Mike was a little weak. Then the balls come out and Trey comments on how bad the crowd is at shooting hoops. YEM is pretty tight and has a crazy jam with a full on double chorus of Gumbo? And then a Honky Tonk jam too? HYHU brings Fish out for Terrapin and a vac solo. Tweeprise wraps up the set nicely.
Grace was cut from the recording I heard and that's fine. Then another bust-out with the Highway encore? What prompted all this? Trey's family maybe? Then a ripping Rocky Top for another encore too!
Well in the context of 1993 in general, I’ve got to go with a solid four stars on this one and maybe even more just for the bust-outs alone. They far outweigh the other sloppy moments in this one. Ten more day before I got to see them!
