Perhaps one of the more controversial shows, the Tweezer at
this NYE show was profoundly plebeian in my opinion.  The
opening lyric segment was extraordinarily standard (yes, I have
the FM).  The jam sounds very, very cool, but -- again -- this
is EXPECTED of Tweezer.  The average Tweezer is great,
remember.  Lots of Trey in the beginning of the jam segment..
lots of Trey.  The theme that Trey picks for this Tweezer is
one I have definitely heard him do elsewhere but I can't place
it (can you?).  Sounds like he is just tooling around;  sounds
good, but no real spirit behind it.  Seems, frankly, a bit --
dare I say it -- lifeless, when compared to many other Tweezer
jams at this point.  Soon the jam gets out of TREY mode and
into a strong, climbing groove.  It begins to pick up speed,
and gets reeeal crazy, as Tweezers are oft to do (bordering on
dissonance).  Towards the end, the jam really smokes in typical
Tweezeresque fashion (in your face, raw, cool..).  The ever
typical "dying out of the jam bit" closes this pretty
straightforward Tweezer. Just over 12 minutes.  Have to give it
a slightly above average Great Tweezer rating of 5.25  (average
Reprise) (btw, one of the best KNOWs at this show,
imnsho) (C+)
