Nicknamed the “Sun Mountain Fiddler,” Dick is best known as the leader of the Sun Mountain Band. He first played the fiddle at age eight, and has been melding bluegrass, Gaelic, folk, and jazz styles since then. Check out his 1981 release Riding High for a fair representation of his sound. Dick’s lone Phish guest shot came alongside Jeff Walton on 5/6/93. He augmented such staples as “Rocky Top” and the “HYHU” jam, while also rendering new songs like “I Been to Georgia on a Fast Train.”
