"First Tube" poster show in AC June 16th to benefit Mockingbird

The poster show will feature the best Phish inspired art, including limited edition art made specifically for the show. Admission is FREE for all and runs from 11am-4pm.

‘First Tube’, a poster show featuring Phish artists from around the country will be held on Saturday June 16th from 11am-4pm at the Trump Plaza Hotel, Westminster Room, on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Developed and produced by a group of artists and fans known as the Mothership Art Collective, this poster show will be held in the middle of a weekend of Phish, who play nearby Bader Field June 15-17th.

Phish poster shows have been held over the years with great success, as unique posters made for the Phish shows that weekend and stop on the tour feature some of the best concert art being produced today. ‘First Tube’ is the first event for 2012 produced by the Mothership Art Collective, a group within the Phish community, comprised of artists and organizations who promote the art inspired by the band Phish. The eclectic artists featured at this event show the broad scope of Phish related art and capture the inspiration of the band in their art. The creative fan base that Phish has makes for amazing art inspired by the band, the locales and the music. The collective will work hard to bring a show to the Phish touring public each year.

In keeping with the great tradition and success of past poster shows, First Tube will offer free entry to all patrons, tubes available for purchase, charitable donations from the event made to the Mockingbird Foundation and a wide array of artists with posters to fit any budget. Artists will be announced the first week of May and special edition works, only available at the show, will be available for viewing shortly thereafter at www.mothershipartcollective.org

Phish has released high-quality digital download version of Junta. The 24bit/192kHz HD FLAC files can be acquired from HD Tracks ("the world’s leading digital music store for hi-resolution and cd quality downloads") with 5% of proceeds going to the Mockingbird Foundation, and Phish.net users can use discount code "phishd10" for 10% off through April 25th.

These tracks utilize the same mastering done for the limited-edition vinyl release scheduled for Saturday April 21st as part of Record Store Day. Each was a separate transfer from the master reels by the same mastering engineer who cut the lacquers. "It's as pure as current technology allows," we're told, "like spinning the stereo reels."

New Mike Gordon CD: Steamroller Wheelies

from phish.com: Steamroller Wheelies: A Restoration Convoy is a compilation of collaborations between Mike Gordon and a smattering of fellow musicians; all of whom wanted to contribute to Vermont flood recovery. It is available NOW as a download at LivePhish.com and for pre-order on CD at Phish Dry Goods.

The tracks were collected and compiled by Mike from various projects he's either developed or participated in over the years, beginning in 1999. All proceeds from Steamroller Wheelies will be directed towards recovery efforts, to help restore Vermont after the devastating effects of Hurricane Irene in 2011.

Phish to Return to Bonnaroo

Three years after playing the festival which was originally modeled after their own fests, Phish will be taking the stage at the 11th Annual Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival. While the schedule has yet to be confirmed, Phish appears to share the headlining spots with Radiohead and Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Fishman's X Dress Auctioned

The Mimi Fishman Foundation has launched a new on-line charity auction that features many drumsticks and drumheads from Phish’s 2011 shows, each dated and signed by Phish drummer Jon Fishman. The headliner of the auction is the “dress” Jon Fishman wore for (and only for) the Sept 4, 2011 show, covered with Xs rather than the Os of the doughnut mu-mu he usually wears. Proceeds from this auction will benefit the Delta Gamma Center for Children With Visual Impairments, specifically to support the newly created Mimi Fishman Adventure Camp which offers a safe camp-like environment for visually impaired children. The on-line auction is currently live with the bidding coming to close on Thursday, March 1.

Two .net meetups planned for NYC New Year's run

For .netters attending the Phish New Years run at Madison Square Garden next week, there are two .net meetups planned for the pre-show afternoons on Thursday, December 29th and Saturday, December 31st.

The first meetup on Thursday the 29th will be at the Irish Times Pub and Restaurant at 254 W. 31st St, directly across the street from MSG. This meetup is being organized by Mark @SLOTHelot and is being discussed on the .net forum thread here. The meetup will run from about 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.

On Saturday, New Years Eve, December 31st, Phish.net will hold its second "ophishial" NYE .net meetup again from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Hudson Yards Cafe, in the "Hell's Kitchen" neighborhood on the corner of 35th Street and Tenth Avenue (450 Tenth Avenue), about a five minute walk from MSG and a bit out of the midtown crush.

Your .net hosts and greeters for this meetup will be Bill @castinajig and John @johnnyd. The cordial restaurant owner, Jimmy Reardon, is happy to again be hosting Phish fans in this intimate pub. Bring your iPods with your favorite Phish music to play on the restaurant's PA. Like the SBIX meetup this past summer, phish.net also be passing out free .net stickers and souvenir commemorative laminates to those attending (while supplies last).

Both meetup venues are all ages and serve pub food as well as beverages.
