Carini
Parts of this FAQ have been superceded by the song history, which has been edited (and vetted) recently, though is focusedon the song and thus perhaps not as comprehensive as this page.
The FAQ is currently in the process of being updated in the new system. We apologize for any inconvenience, and will be updating this page as soon as possible.
Pete Carini is Henrietta's drum tech (as Trey announced after the 6-25-97 Antelope when he thanked the crew). He is mentioned in the song variously known as "Carini", "Carini With a Lumpy Head", "Lucy with a Lumpy Head", and "Lucy".
The rest of the lyrics remain a mix of mystery and rumor, and were reportedly responsible for the song being dropped after the early-1997 Europe tour, although it was busted out again 12-30-97, during which Pete was brought onstage to wild applause and again 4-98 when Carini chased someone across the stage. (Also from that show, listen for Henrietta's Carini chant during Antelope). (Thanks also to Jon Worley and Dan Hantman.)
Lucy may be a dog who "had cancerous lumps on her head and one day walked off by herself, presumably to die." (Adam Wiggin, 2/19/03)
