For shows no general admission, all methods of getting tickets (mail order, ticketmaster outlets, phone sales, and, when available, online sales) reportedly get the same ratio allotments of various ticket quality (e.g. floor, loge, balcony, obstructed). All methods are first-come, first-served, but everyone gets the same shot at the same time, sometimes will little notice. Unfortunately, there are of course illicit and unethical ways to get better seats. But otherwise your chances of improving the tickets you get is limited (?) to karma and celebration of the ticket goddesses.
