There are a number of bands known for covering Phish, including Phin (some years ago), Stash, Tartar (now defunct), and Phix (Denver).

Of them, Phix appears to be the only one still active, the one taken most seriously by Phish fans, the one most authentic to Phish's sound and vibe, and arguably the most talented. They play a fantasy Phish setlist designed by a fan, and then acknowledge the fan after the show. Their future was a bit unclear after they didn't show for a 3/29/03 gig in Santa Cruz, but they've since come back quite strong, including three annual fundraisers for the Mockingbird Foundation.

While sometimes called a Phish cover band, the band RAQ does not actually cover Phish songs, although they do draw heavily on the Phish sound and achieve that IT of "type II jamming".
