This, to me, is the million dollar question, the large sum of money corresponding to just how often, and in how many songs, Trey plays off key in this era. To me, it's like nails on a chalkboard (chalkboard torture?) and I often wonder whether Trey is 'experimenting with dissonance,' or whether he's just off key and either doesn't know or doesn't care. Either way, I really don't enjoy it. If I could ask just one question (other than, would you please practice Taste), it would be about this off-key riffing, so common in, Split, Limb, Chalkdust and so on.
