It's probably either this or the 9/1/12 Light that would be considered the most famous jam they've played at Dick's, right? To me, it's one of the jams they've played in the modern era that hews closest to what they did in '97 (and I'm not just talking about the dirt-nasty funkiness), in that they found a musical idea, saw it out, found another musical idea, saw it out, and then closed in style (and went into Ghost, to boot). This might be the most purely user-friendly "here, you're a neophyte, give this a whirl and see whatcha think" jam they've played since 2009, and *obviously* I mean that as a very high compliment.
I think there are a few other Dick's jams that stand out. The Tweezer from 9/3/11 is up there. The Chalk Dust from 8/31/12 and the CD from last year. The Carini from 2013. The Piper from 9/4/11 with the vocal jam is still one of my faves.
9/2/12 Sand says "What about me? I'm really the best jam from Dick's. Why doesn't anybody want to play with me any more?"
