It's probably either this or the 9/1/12 Light that would be considered the most famous jam they've played at Dick's, right? To me, it's one of the jams they've played in the modern era that hews closest to what they did in '97 (and I'm not just talking about the dirt-nasty funkiness), in that they found a musical idea, saw it out, found another musical idea, saw it out, and then closed in style (and went into Ghost, to boot). This might be the most purely user-friendly "here, you're a neophyte, give this a whirl and see whatcha think" jam they've played since 2009, and *obviously* I mean that as a very high compliment.
I think there are a few other Dick's jams that stand out. The Tweezer from 9/3/11 is up there. The Chalk Dust from 8/31/12 and the CD from last year. The Carini from 2013. The Piper from 9/4/11 with the vocal jam is still one of my faves.
hmmmm.... i still think if i had to pick one song to play someone who gets music, but never listened to Phish (oxymoron) it'd be the UNDERMIND.

aside from the obvious songs before this year's slate, sugar shack (particularly when less-executed), and this VERSION (especially at 3.50), makes me think about all the dead i've listened to -

for me, the light is interesting for reasons @n00b100 mentioned regarding the simple.... like @factsareuseless always correctly points out, trey THINKS. there are just several well-thought out (and developed passages here).

i'm not huge into light. not exactly sure why. my hope is that one day i wake up and it's what i'm into. but i love the second part. great Mike.

i always hear a lot of santana (a lot this year). all over the light in spots.
