overall, nice review, but "paradigm-shifting" hood from mansfield?
True, the harmonic "trickery" as you call it isn't that mind-blowing, especially because the Hood progression is D-A-G. But I meant "paradigm-shifting" literally, as in, the paradigm of Hood jams is to stick to the main progression and build it gradually. What we saw in Mansfield was that they were willing to literally shift that paradigm: they established on the first night of tour that Hood jams this summer would not just follow the standard Hood progression and build to a peak, but would instead explore various other harmonic and textural avenues. That, in and of itself, is a shift of paradigm, whether or not the harmonic keys that they travel to are that "out there."

The term "paradigm shift" is often as meaningless as the word "epic," and I try to only use either of those words when I really mean exactly that. To call the Mann2 "Chalkdust> Wingsuit" "epic" would be an overstatement. To call the Randalls3 "Chalkdust> Light> Tweezer" "epic" would be pretty spot on, IMO.
