I think there is something special about seeing them in SF proper, as opposed to mountain view or berkeley. Although that 8-7-10 show at the Greek was what everyone used to talk about as the top bay area show before the oft mentioned 8-19-12. Shoreline just doesnt have the intimate feel that the Greek or the Bill Graham have. I am looking forward to this years run and I think the city will be jumpin'. I think the America's Cup will be going on that week, as well as other GD events
